Mental Health & Wellbeing Chair – Little Locals Fund
(a.k.a. The Sanity Check & Guardian of Good Vibes)
Do you believe mental health is just as important as physical health — especially for parents and little ones? The Little Locals Fund is looking for a Mental Health & Wellbeing Chair who can keep family wellbeing at the forefront of our work, ensuring support is accessible, compassionate, and stigma-free — while providing thoughtful oversight to keep our programs and resources aligned with real family needs.
What you’ll do (officially):
- Advocate for mental health awareness and support in all board decisions.
- Provide oversight and guidance to ensure programs and resources reflect family wellbeing priorities.
- Identify gaps in mental health and essential supports for families — and communicate them clearly.
- Connect with local service providers to strengthen partnerships, referrals, and access.
- Support initiatives like The Holding Space to ensure they nurture both body and mind.
- Keep the board mindful of the wellbeing of families, staff, volunteers, and each other.
What you’ll really do (unofficially):
- Be the board’s built-in “sanity check.”
- Remind us that caring for caregivers is just as vital as caring for littles.
- Shine a light on tough topics without making them scary.
- Keep our vibe balanced: serious about impact, light enough to laugh together.
Who you are:
- Passionate about mental health, perinatal wellness, and community care.
- Comfortable speaking up, especially when it’s about wellbeing.
- A thoughtful leader who values oversight and accountability.
- Someone who believes healthy families = healthy communities.
Perks (besides all the good vibes):
- You’ll shape how mental health and wellbeing are prioritized across our work.
- A chance to influence meaningful change in family support.
- The joy of helping build a community where asking for help feels safe, normal, and supported.
